Alto 19 to launch in Canary Wharf

The White Rabbit Projects team will launch Alto 19 on 15th October 2026, a new rooftop restaurant, bar and lounge on the 19th Floor of Locke London Canary Wharf.  With sweeping views across London, Alto 19 has a wide-ranging Mediterranean menu, bold seasonal cocktails and a music programme to take you late into the night.

Alto 19 joins an impressive roster of venues. As leaders in the hospitality space, White Rabbit Projects have launched many successful brands across the UK, with both Lina Stores & Bar Lina and Kricket & Soma, alongside wellness space, Arc, and a number of restaurants across hotel brands – Locke, Marine & Lawn Hotel & Resorts, and Graduate Hotels.

The kitchen will be led by Executive Chef Chris Dargavel, who joins from Daphne’s in Kensington after three years as Head Chef. Before that he spent eight years as Head Chef at J Sheekey in Covent Garden, and was on the opening teams at Scott’s in Mayfair and Roux at Parliament Square. He arrived in London at 17 and learned his trade at Le Caprice.  His cooking is modern Mediterranean, ingredient-led and deliberately unfussy.

Dargavel said: “Everything starts with pristine ingredients and knowing how to enhance them. We’re bringing a sociable, modern Mediterranean menu to Canary Wharf — focusing on great wild fish, fresh hand-cut pasta, and bold centrepieces designed to be shared.”

Expect snacks such as cacio e pepe gnocco fritto, rock oysters with grapefruit granita and crab fritti with aioli. To follow, a range of starters include bluefin tuna crudo, beef tartare with straw potato, Prosciutto di Parma and Ligurian honey melon, and vongole vermentino bruschetta with Amalfi lemon.

Freshly made pastas of porcini agnolotti with parmesan fonduta and black truffle, and braised beef shin and Barolo ragu, sit alongside heartier mains of heritage chicken milanese with bitter leaves and raw fennel, grilled Iberian pork cottoleta with green figs, and monkfish al forno, shellfish brodo and olives. There will be larger sharing dishes including a traditional salt-baked branzino, dry-aged ribeye cottoletta with fried garlic gremolata and Sicilian sweet red prawn rice with cured lardo.

The dessert menu features warm dark chocolate mousse with milk gelato and caramelised citrus tart with mascarpone and chestnut honey, alongside the creative Valpolicella red wine & blackberry soft-serve.

The bar offers a wide array of premium speciality spirits, a seasonal cocktail menu featuring Ionian Tides using vodka, mastiha, tomato and sage with olive lemonade and the Tangier to Turin blending grappa with sumac bitters, lemon, mint and a saffron and orange foam, together with a wine list focussing on small artisanal producers. Add to that, DJ’s and late nights all served beside spectacular views of the London skyline.

Chris Miller, founder and CEO of White Rabbit Projects, said: “We have spent ten years building restaurants and during that time Canary Wharf has quietly become a dining destination in its own right. Alto 19 is our third in partnership with Locke after Michelin recommended Santa Joana in Lisbon with Culinary Director Nuno Mendes and Eve in Kensington.”

Designed by Holloway Li, the 100 cover space is flooded with natural light, with windows along the entire perimeter offering views of London’s iconic skyline, a central feature of the design that helps shift the atmosphere as the sky darkens and the buildings illuminate. The textures also lean into this, with plush velvets and reflective surfaces that shift between shades of bright tomato and deep crimson.

Wooden touches and flooring, combined with warm lighting, soften the red tones throughout the space. An eclectic mix of patterns and graphics brings a vibrant energy to the room, with leopard print, geometric designs and printed rugs. In the lounge, low-slung seating is centred around a large chrome 1960s inspired DJ booth.

Seating varies by area, from large round banquets and table seating for group dinners or date-night meals, through to sofas for cocktails in the lounge. A large granite-topped bar also runs through the space, with stools available for counter dining and drinks. Plus, an intimate yet spacious 10-person private dining room is apt for corporate meetings or glamorous celebrations.

Opening for evenings, the room shifts through the night: after-work drinks at the bar, dinner in the restaurant, then cocktails and DJs in the lounge until late.
