Scotland’s Brig o’Doon hotel debuts garden suites & new rooms as part of £2.5 million transformation

One of Scotland’s most romantic hotels, Brig o’ Doon, has undergone an extensive £2.5 million refurbishment, unveiling new executive bedrooms and luxurious garden suites with private balconies. Now taking bookings from May 1st via https://brigodoonhouse.com, guests can immerse themselves in the perfect balance of historic charm and contemporary elegance at one of Scotland’s most iconic hotel and wedding venues.

Honouring the hotel’s rich heritage, the renovation seamlessly blends traditional grandeur with modern sophistication, featuring high-end finishes and bespoke interiors designed to create an unforgettable guest experience.

Nestled on the banks of the River Doon in Alloway, Ayr, Brig o’ Doon House Hotel is a four-star historic property, independently owned by The RAD Hotel Group. Originally built in 1829 as a Traveller’s Inn, the hotel once housed just seven apartments, stables, and a coach house. Following this transformation, the hotel now offers 14 beautifully appointed bedrooms, including eight new River Suites with private balconies overlooking the river and landscaped gardens. The refurbishment also includes an enhanced function suite and a newly created wraparound outdoor terrace, elevating its reputation as a world-class wedding and events destination.

Brig o’ Doon’s new transformation, crafted by design specialists Lucid Interiors and owners, Robert and Vivien Kyle, exude understated luxury, featuring rich textures, warm earthy tones, and bespoke furnishings.

New Executive Bedrooms are both spacious and elegantly designed, with a deluxe king-size bed, contemporary living area, and a modern en-suite bathroom. Thoughtfully positioned handcrafted armchairs invite guests to unwind while enjoying the expansive garden views framed by large windows. A soft, earthy colour palette enhances the natural surroundings, offering a tranquil retreat.

For a more serene stay, sumptuous Garden & River Suites are defined by deep-green velvet headboards, luxurious brass accents, and classic panelling, creating a timeless yet sophisticated ambience. Guests can step onto private balconies to take in the serene riverside views or relax indoors with plush furnishings, ambient lighting, and floor-to-ceiling velvet drapes, ensuring an intimate and restful stay.

Vivien Kyle, co-owner of The RAD Hotel Group, said:

“Brig o’ Doon has long been a dream destination for couples and guests seeking fairytale weddings and unforgettable events. This transformation marks an exciting new chapter for the hotel, enhancing its timeless charm while ensuring the highest level of comfort and luxury. Whether celebrating a wedding or enjoying a peaceful escape, our guests can now immerse themselves in the beauty of Brig o’ Doon like never before.”

The accommodation transformation follows last year’s phase one renovations, which introduced the Garden Lounge Bar and exclusive event space. Featuring handcrafted seating, tranquil garden views, and a seamless connection to the historic Auld Brig bridge – immortalised in Robert Burns’ Tam O’Shanter, the new bar has been designed to provide a magical day-to-night guest experience in Scotland’s most romantic setting.

The Honeymoon Suite, now the epitome of modern luxury, has also been fully reimagined. Featuring a signature four-poster bed, an elegant dressing area, fireplace and a freestanding stone bath, to offer newlyweds the perfect romantic retreat.

Rooms at Brig o’ Doon House Hotel are now available to book, with rates starting from £175 per night for executive rooms and from £215 per night for a River Suite. To book from May 1st, head to https://brigodoonhouse.com/rooms/
