Following the success of its Vermouth Tasting in July, the team at Legado is launching a series of guided wine tastings this autumn, exploring the regions, producers and traditions that shape Spain’s remarkable drinking culture. The tastings will take place in the Taberna at Legado, the tapas and pintxos bar within Nieves Barragán Mohacho’s one-Michelin-starred Shoreditch restaurant.
The monthly series will run from September to November, with each one-hour tasting focusing on a different wine style or region. Five carefully selected pours will be served alongside two to three tapas dishes chosen to complement the wines. The evenings will capture the spirit of Spain’s traditional wine bars, with guests seated together around communal tables to taste, chat and discover something new.
Hosted by Head Sommelier Marcos, the series opens on 17th September with Rioja, Spain’s best-known wine region and the first in the country to receive Denominación de Origen Calificada status, its highest level of recognition for quality and provenance. Guests will taste five wines while learning about the region’s history, principal grape varieties and winemaking traditions, from its celebrated oak-aged reds to the more diverse styles being produced across Rioja today.
Future tastings will explore Sherry and the wines of Castilla y León, offering an introduction to two more of Spain’s celebrated wine-producing regions.
Priced at £60 per person, each tasting includes five wines paired with two to three tapas dishes, such as Pan con Tomate, Ham Croquetas with Manchego and Gordal Olives with Orange and Oregano.

- Sherry – Thursday 15 October
- Castilla y León – Wednesday 11 November
With just 12 guests at each tasting, the series takes place beneath the Taberna’s fluted arched ceiling, inspired by traditional Barcelona craftsmanship.
